It's Like Gnarvester Christmas!

Thanks to the magic of 'tracking', I knew my frame was going to arrive on Tuesday. Still, when I got home I was like Ralphie rushing to check the mail for my decoder ring. I drug my box out to the deck and (carefully) tore it open, and this is what I found:

Now if only those rims would arrive (due late next week), I will get this beast built and start shredding the gnar with my Gnarvester!

Here are some tags in case someone is looking for this type of bike on-line:

  1. Hi, I'm looking at buying a Gnarvester. Do you have photos of the finished build? Also, what size frame is this and how tall are you?

    Cheers

  2. Glad you found the link. There was so little information when I was considering my Gnarvester, so that is why these posts are here. FWIW I am 5'8" with a 30" inseam (with shoes on) ;) This bike is spot on. I run it with a 90mm stem and like being a little stretched out...but not uncomfortable...this has been on some long rides.
Currently in the process of getting it set up as a 1x10 so more to come on that in a week or so.
    Good Luck!

  3. Thanks! A final question on sizing; is your frame what Carver call a 17" or is it a "true" 17" from center BB to the top of the seat tube?

  4. Dang, I just dropped off the bike at the shop for the 1x10 conversion or I would measure for you. I would call or email Carver (also Bikeman.com) and ask. I called when I was ready to order, and I am glad I did as he asked me several questions, such as what wheelset I was using...I had no idea that my DTSwiss through axle hubs required a special paragon slider. I also picked up an driver side slider for a derailleur, which I am now going to use.
I will say, that I have ridden 16" frames and 17" frames in the past. I focus solely on the top tube length as seatube/standover is not an issue with these frames. I had been riding Niners (One9 & SIR9) for some time, and the 17" frame did the best in matching up with what I was accustomed to (with the addition of a 90mm stem).
Carver will make sure all your questions are answered (customer service is excellent IMO) and I am sure you won't be disappointed.

  5. I've been talking to Bikeman (in fact I've been driving them mad re sizing!). I'm going for what they call a 16", which is 17.5" center BB to top of seat tube. Let me know if you manage to find out what size yours is. Mine hasn't shipped yet, so I could change it if needed! Cheers...
